Anthony Smith loses his cool with fan after Saturday’s farewell, explains the reason

Few people expected a different outcome from UFC veteran Anthony Smith's last professional fight, when he fought against young and up-and-coming fighter Mingyang Zhang last weekend. The fight lasted just over four minutes, and the Chinese fighter won by technical knockout in the first round.

The UFC has received a lot of criticism for this pairing, and rightly so. Smith definitely deserved a more dignified fight, but in his last fight, the UFC decided to "reward" him with a young and hungry killer.

However, apart from the defeat, one moment in particular caught the attention of the audience. Immediately after the fight, Smith walked towards the cage and started arguing with someone in the audience, and at the press conference he explained exactly what happened.

Smith's statement

-There was some guy in a Nebraska T-shirt who was whistling at me and annoying me. He was talking all sorts of crap even before the fight. But I was focused on what I had to do. After the fight, my friend was still cheering him on, and he was still annoying me by saying all sorts of nasty things; Smith said.

-I was really angry. He had a Nebraska jersey on, so we should be family. Mingyang was telling me not to do it, to let it go. But I was emotional, it didn't turn out the way I wanted it to - he added.

It's a shame that Smith was defeated like that in his last career appearance, but now let him enjoy his well-deserved retirement. Smith has a bunch of matches and punches behind him, and at one point he was a challenger for the belt held by Jon Jones. He lost that too, but he can still be proud of the career he had.

Every UFC fighter's career sometimes has its ups and downs, but it's important to stay motivated, but also happy with all the positives.
