The projected first pick in this year's NBA draft chose the most underrated player in the strongest league in the world.

The consistently high-quality games of the playmaker of the Indiana Pacers did not go under the radar of Cooper Flagg, a recent Duke University student. When asked who is the most underrated in the league, the guy from Maine answered like a cannon.

"Tyrese Haliburton, because people keep 'hating' on him and saying he's overrated. They say he doesn't have quality, but he's just such a good basketball player," said the 19-year-old, who is expected to be selected by the Dallas Mavericks.

The playmaker of the franchise from the state of Lake Michigan led his team to the Eastern Conference finals. Indiana eliminated Milwaukee and Cleveland with an identical score - 4:1.

Rick Carlisle's team is playing really well, and in the fight for the grand final they will meet with the better team from the duel between the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks (2:3).

Halibarton is the best assistant in the playoffs so far (9.3), and he also records 17.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per match.

Cooper Flagg's career

Few players from Maine have made it to the NBA. The only one who wore an NBA jersey in the current season, and who states Maine as his birthplace, is Duncan Robinson from the Miami Heat. A few went through college in Maine, like Rick Carlisle, the current Indiana coach, but in general, Maine is not known for its rich NBA history.

Flagg, who could have graduated from Newport this year, decided to "skip" a class, reclassify and start college early, which turned out to be a great success.

It has been known for some time that he is the main candidate for the first pick of the draft, and now it is officially known that Dallas will pick first after the Mavericks won the draft lottery earlier this week. Flagg attended the lottery along with several other top picks, where they all briefly met NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.
