Gervonta Davis vs Lamont Roach pushed back to summer

Gervonta Davis defended his WBA lightweight title in early March. Tank fought Lamont Roach Jr. at the Barclays Center in New York City, and their fight ended in a draw.

After the fight, there was a lot of back and forth about what happened in the ninth round when Davis knelt down and went to his corner to have grease from his hair wiped into his eyes.

Referee Steve Willis ruled it was not a knockdown and did not call Tank's move. However, the boxing public, and especially Roach's fans, were convinced that the referee had made a mistake.

If the referee had counted, Davis would have been behind on points and lost the fight. The New York Athletic Commission conducted an investigation and confirmed the outcome of the fight.

Both boxers have expressed interest in a new fight, and their teams have begun negotiations, and it seemed that the talks are leading to a new showdown on June 21.

Dan Rafael's post

Renowned boxing journalist Dan Rafael revealed in a post on social media that talks have broken down and a new date is being sought.

Premier Boxing Champions is considering the possibility of arranging the fight for July or August, most likely at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

– Gervonta was great that night, but his opponent was even better, there are not many excuses. He was in the ring with another great fighter – said Lamont's father Roach Sr. and continued:

– It's a big fight for both of them. The rematch has to happen. I know Gervonta wants it, and we really want it too. Wait a minute, I believe something will happen soon. Once Lamont gets to that level and fights great fighters like Gervonta, that's when he wants to stay there. Lamont only wants big fights.

What will happen in the coming days and weeks is difficult to give the right answer, but there is no doubt that exciting things await us, which we are very much looking forward to. Both fighters have something to offer.
