Joy in St. Peter’s Square as new pope is announced

Thousands in St. Peter’s Square cheered the election of Robert Prevost from the US as the new pope. He will be known as Pope Leo XIV. Al Jazeera’s Virginia Pietromarchi was in the square with witnesses who expressed joy at his message of peace and unity.
