For many, Leo Messi is the best player of all time because he managed to win everything he could in football, and the icing on the cake is the title of world champion that he finally won with Argentina in 2022, which completed his unreal collection.
The experienced Argentinian has been playing in America for almost two years in the jersey of Inter from Miami, and although he is at the end of his career, many hope that he will return to Barcelona and retire there.
Messi gave an interview in which he admitted that he wanted to return to Barca after the World Cup in Qatar and that it was his original option before he signed for Inter from Miami in the summer of 2023.
"I wanted to return to Barcelona and play for the club I always wanted to be at. All of this happened after the World Cup, but unfortunately, they told me that it wasn't possible. My family and I eventually decided to go outside of Europe because I didn't want to play for any other club there anymore. After winning the World Cup, there was no need for me to stay in Europe, even though there were other offers," said Messi.
Pep Guardiola
Messi spoke proudly about everything he had won with Barcelona, and especially remembered the time when this team dominated under Pep Guardiola.
"Pep Guardiola is from another world. He is different and sees some things that no one else sees. He changed football and there is no doubt about that. Everyone wanted to copy us back then. In a way, he did 'harm' football because back then all the clubs wanted to play like Barcelona," the Argentine added in an interview with Simplemento Futbol.
In recent months, there has been a lot of talk that Messi has finally found a true successor, and that it is Lamine Yamal, who is playing brilliantly at Barcelona.
At only 16 years old, Yamal made a "boom" in the world of football, and even then it was clear how talented he was. He is playing masterfully in the Barcelona jersey this season, and Messi has now made a comment about him.
"What Lamine Yamal is showing is impressive. He is already the champion of Europe with Spain. He is only 17 years old and he is still developing and I am sure he will continue to get better and better because you can see his progress from game to game," says Messi and adds.
"He has incredible quality and is already without a doubt one of the best players in the world for me."
