Luka Doncic opens up about trade: ‘My heart was broken, I smashed my phone’

Although it has been two months since Luka Doncic left Dallas, his trade is still causing reactions from the public. 

The Slovenian international left the Dallas Mavericks jersey in early February and became a player for the LA Lakers in a very unexpected trade.

Dallas gave up its biggest star in exchange for Anthony Davis, who is struggling with injuries, and the deal was reached in record time and away from the public eye. Mavericks fans have had a hard time taking the news, while Lakers fans are in for a big win, given that Doncic is excelling side by side with LeBron James.

For the first time since the surprise trade, Doncic spoke openly about the whole situation to ESPN and admitted how difficult it was for him:

“I was in bed, just going to sleep when I found out about the trade. I thought three times that it was April 1st. The sadness I felt the most, it was a big shock for me. My heart was broken.”

Malika Edwards' interview was briefly interrupted by manager Lara Beth Seager, who brought an item that she said was a reminder of the night it all started. It was his phone. The Slovenian admitted that he broke his phone after receiving the news, but explained that he was still working.

While this story shows how the career of an NBA basketball player can be filled with various trials and problems, it is clear that Luka, however, realized that he had to change his environment and adapt. It seems that the great basketball player is just as superior as he was in his previous club, and there is no doubt that he can make history in his new club.

Dallas fans still mourn him, hoping that one day he will return to the place where it all began.
