Manny Pacquiao, a boxing legend from the Philippines and a former multiple world champion, is once again attracting attention for his possible return to the professional ring. Although he is already 46 years old, there is no end to the talk of his return. His team has repeatedly confirmed that Pac-Man could return if a sufficiently attractive opponent appears.
He last fought in 2021, when he lost on points to then-champion Yordenis Ugas. Shortly after that fight, he announced his retirement from professional boxing. However, that did not completely distance him from the ring—he participated in two exhibition matches, against DK Yoo in 2022 and Rukiya Anpo in 2024, fueling rumors of his return.
Recently, speculations have been circulating that he could face undefeated lightweight champion Gervonta Davis, known for his brutal strength and high number of knockouts (30-0, 28 KOs). Pacquiao indirectly challenged Davis to a clash in an interview with Seconds Out.
"I can fight anyone, even Gervonta Davis... I'm not afraid of anyone," Pacquiao said.
Davis recently had a less-than-convincing match against Lamont Roach Jr., where the judges were divided and the fight was a draw, but Gervonta retained his title as the reigning champion. During that match, he even took a knee in the ninth round, which almost led to his loss of the title. However, the referee did not call it a knockdown, although many believed it should have. If it had, the outcome of the fight would probably have been different, in Roach's favor.
Nothing has been officially confirmed yet, but it is clear that Pacman is not giving up and that, if given the right chance, he is ready to show once again why he was one of the best in boxing history.
The legendary Filipino had 72 matches in his professional career, 62 wins, 39 of which were by knockout, eight losses, and two draws.
He is unique in history in that he won titles from flyweight to super welterweight - a total of eight weight classes!
