Rountree: Pereira looked like a different fighter against Ankalaev

2 days ago 6

We haven't heard much from former champion Alex Pereira since he recently lost his light heavyweight title to Magomed Ankalaev. He was beaten by Ankalaev in his game, that is, in the fight on his feet, and Pereira did not look as dominant at any moment of that match as in his last performances.

It is possible that this is due to the fact that Ankalaev is definitely the best fighter he has faced so far in the light heavyweight division, and some believe that something else has changed when it comes to Pereira. His former opponent, Khalil Rountree Jr, claims that Anakalev fought a "different" Pereira than he did.

- It was difficult for me to watch that fight and try to score it. The Alex that entered the cage that night is different from the Alex that fought me. My experience was watching that fight in great frustration; Rountree told MMA Today.

-I have to admit it was confusing because I expected the same guy who fought me, I expected him to come in and fight the same way. I wanted to see what the whole experience looked like from the outside – Rountree added.

Difference

Whether Pereira is truly different or there is just a big difference between Ankalaev and his previous opponents, it is hard to say. We will see how he looks in his next appearances against other fighters – if he is dominant again, it will mean that Ankalaev is truly that much better, and if he is not, maybe he is truly past his best days. Time will tell.

There is no doubt that Pereira is motivated to do great things in the future, taking each of the following challenges seriously. We are well acquainted with his qualities, and are aware that he is the profile of a fighter who can do magical things in a short period of time.

Many of his fans are looking forward to his next match.
