Trainer of Dricus du Plessis: “He’s not injured; we’re ready to fight”

There has been a lot of buzz in the last few days regarding Dricus Du PlessisKhamzat Chimaev. There has been talk lately that the two will fight at UFC 317 in June, and it seems that the next challenger, Khamzat, has also counted on this.

The other day, rumors surfaced that Dricus was injured and would not fight Khamzat, to which Chimaev reacted violently, and Caio Borralho accepted the fight as a replacement opponent. After that, Dricus took to social media and denied all rumors about injuries, and after all that, his trainer Morne Visser also spoke out last night.

Visser, on the other hand, said in an interview with Submission Radio that there was no talk of any injury, and that Dricus will indeed fight Chimaev, but not at UFC 317.

-There are no injuries, man, that's bullshit. We will fight Khamzat, now we are actually waiting for a contract. It will be very soon. Definitely not International Fight Week, they have something else planned for that. I'm sure everyone knows what they have planned; Visser said yesterday.

So the good news is that Dricus has no injuries and will still fight Khamzat Chimaev, now we just have to wait and see when that will be. Many are saying that Khamzat is the one who will give him his first UFC defeat and dethrone him from the middleweight throne, but honestly, they have said that about every opponent he has faced so far.

Khamzat can breathe a sigh of relief because he has a title challenge coming up, apparently very soon.

What can we expect?

Forecasting what exactly will happen is always ungrateful, considering that many times we have witnessed scenarios that hardly anyone expected. Both fighters have the qualities and can do great things, but the question is whether they will succeed in doing so. Their stories are unique and specific, but this fight could really be a real spectacle for everyone.
